Invest in the future. Host an intern. Sea the future. Perhaps you ask, where are those former interns today?
In 2018 Fairfield Chemical hosted an intern from Massachusetts Maritime. Over the years they have hosted several and CMA EF has been proud to partner with them by providing funding for some of these interns. Several have signed on as full-time employees upon graduation even becoming CMA members and attending events. One of those interns was Matt McKean who interned with Fairfield Chemical in both 2018 and 2019. Upon graduation from Mass Maritime, he joined the Fairfield Chemical team full time as a vessel operator where he has worked for the last 4 years. This year when asked, Matt answered the call to serve on the CMA Board as Secretary taking over for Antonia Lycouris. This is not the first time that a former CMA/CMA EF funded intern has later served on the CMA Board, but we are delighted Matt has stepped up to serve the community that once gave him a hand.
“The CMA Education internship stipend helped me excel at my internship with Fairfield Chemical Carriers and become the maritime professional I am today. It’s why I’m thankful to be part of this organization and able to give back.” – Matt McKean
Thank you, Matt!
