CMA Education Foundation Maritime Mentoring Program

The mentoring program is designed to keep the CMA Education Foundation scholarship recipients and the international Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) community connected. CMA Education Foundation scholarship recipients are matched with a maritime Mentor to periodically check in, offer advice, motivation, direction, coaching, support, training, and/or networking to help the student reach his or her goals.

We are seeking Maritime Mentors! As the scholarship program continues to expand, maritime professionals are always needed to serve as mentors for these students. Mentors can be as involved as much or as little as their schedule permits conveniently utilizing email, phone, and/or zoom to check in and connect with the student(s). Share your wisdom, lessons learned and experience with the next generation of maritime professionals.

In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn

“As a CMA scholarship recipient, I have also been fortunate enough to participate in the CMA EF mentoring program which has benefited me to be matched with an assigned mentor.  Mrs. Carleen Walker Lyden has been my mentor and since we started this program has not only immensely helped me with her constant guidance and support, but also helped me passionately with building my professional network and developing my contacts in the career field I choose, and we all know how important this is to the maritime industry.”
