It’s back to school time!
It’s back to school time! While many of our CMA EF interns were listed in the August newsletter, three additional students wrapped up their internships recently: Abhinandan Prasad at Triworld Shipping , Georgios Tsatalios at Trycon Enterprises and Josh Guerrlich at gCaptain. Thank you to the host companies for providing these students with hands on learning opportunities and experiences.
Internship Opportunity
We have learned of a remote internship opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student who would like to gain more experience in the maritime finance sector including building operating models, discounted cash flow valuation, company analysis, preparation of pitchbooks, etc.
Applicants must possess fundamental accounting and finance knowledge, research, PowerPoint, Excel and good interpersonal and time management skills. Interested candidates should send their resume and cover letter to tkane@yacapital.com.
Our scholarship recipients have all reported to their respective schools. Many have sent thank you notes and emails and here are just three of them. To all the CMA EF donors and supporters please know your financial support made these awards possible and these notes of thanks extend to each of you.
I received a handwritten note from Liam a Massachusetts Maritime student:
“Dear Ms. Wilson-Jordan and the CMA Education Foundation, Thank you so much for selecting me for this honor of a scholarship. It is beyond helpful in helping to pay my semester bill for the fall. Tomorrow is August 10th and I’m leaving for pre-season football! I will continue to send updates throughout the year. Thank you so much!” -Liam Clayton.
An excerpt from another handwritten note:
“Being awarded this scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies while having less of a financial burden, helping me better achieve my academic goals. I will also be able to graduate with less student debt because of this scholarship which sets me up better for life going on from college. Thank you for the support that you provide for students, it has made a significant difference in my life!”
– Aric Nielsen
Most recently, I received the following email from one of our scholarship students, a Connecticut high school graduate:
“Good afternoon Beth, I’ve successfully completed my first academic week at Cal Maritime. I’ve already made so many friends and so many memories that I can’t wait to share. I want to thank you and the Connecticut Maritime Association again for the funds to help promote my education.” -Jack Kilian
He sent along the following photo of California Maritime Academy.
May we all remember and be inspired by that enthusiasm, excitement, and spirit of gratitude.
