The Scholarship Program provides financial support to students who are excelling in maritime studies in college or graduate school and to high school seniors who are interested in pursuing such studies.
Top awards of $10,000 are paid directly to schools as tuition reimbursement.
Each year multiple one-time Scholarship Awards ranging from $1,000 – $5,000 are awarded and made payable directly to the student.
For 2024 the CMA Education Foundation received a generous one-time grant from First10Forward (First10Forward.com). See the press release here. In keeping with their mission, the CMA EF has set aside for 2024, two $15,125 scholarships for women currently studying at a maritime academy and pursuing both a maritime degree and a USCG Third Mate or Third Assistant Engineer License. Eligible students for this special 2024 scholarship must have successfully completed at least one full year of undergraduate studies and are actively pursuing a license as indicated above. Awards for these two scholarships will be paid directly to the student’s school account as tuition reimbursement and can be used for academics, school fees and/or sea term.
All applications are reviewed by the CMA Education Foundation Scholarship Committee and awards are approved by the Board of Directors.
Winners will be based on quality of essay or video submission, academic achievement, faculty reference and those who best demonstrate their interest in a career in the maritime industry. For the top scholarship awards applicants may be invited for an interview via Zoom.
